For 33 years from 1990 to 2022, he brought inspirational leadership to Bath Bach Choir, striving for the best, most creative performances, realising the potential. Voces del Camino subsequently gave a well-received concert of renaissance Spanish and English music in Bath Abbey in February 2016, in aid of the abbey's Footprint Appeal. On 8 January 1990 Nigel Perrin took on the role of Director of Music for the City of Bath Bach Choir.
As one of The King's Singers, Perrin had sung all over the world with artists such as Kiri Te Kanawa and Sir Cliff Richard. Nigel Perrin - 4 November 1947 - 23 June 2024 After his time with the world famous Kings Singers, Nigel found himself in Bath and with a desire to continue entertaining with song. Of the B minor Mass, which Bach presented to the Elector of Saxony as a portfolio of individual pieces in the hope of securing a post at court, Nigel Perrin says: "It unquestionably demonstrates Bach's genius in an immense range of styles, from grand chorales to elegant dances, from fiendish fugues to intricate counterpoint. Nigel Perrin has been a specialist choral adjudicator for many years and is much in demand for his instructive and encouraging masterclasses.
Having established Bath Camerata as one of the country's leading chamber choirs, he is greatly sought after as an inspiring choral conductor. Bath Bach Choir is an auditioned choir of about 90 people which performs music of all styles - from the great choral classics to contemporary songs and jazz - to a very high standard, with passion and precision. The choir gives at least six concert performances a year: typically two in Bath Abbey; one in a more informal venue in or near Bath; and three popular Carols by Candlelight.
