Bath Abbey, Footprint Project The Abbey had many of the same challenges and a good few extra besides. The Footprint Project started with the Abbey's collapsing floor, a repair job. And loos - during the busiest times worshippers had to head to the local All Bar One to relieve themselves.

Bath Abbey's Discovery Centre is located beneath the Abbey shop and features artefacts and exhibits about the Abbey's development and history. That was understood long ago. What is astonishing is how many secrets this important building has kept over the centuries for us to unmask in the last few years. Bath Abbey 2000 inspired me to make a study of the Abbey's past through its fabric and its records, financed by the British Academy.
